About this role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable server-side systems that power our platform. You will be responsible for developing APIs, improving performance, ensuring system reliability, and guiding technical decisions across backend architecture. This role requires strong problem-solving ability, ownership mindset, and collaboration with frontend, DevOps, and product teams.
Responsibility
- Design and develop robust RESTful APIs and backend services
- Architect scalable database structures and optimize queries
- Maintain and improve system performance, stability, and security
- Implement authentication, authorization, and data protection strategies
- Integrate third-party services (payments, messaging, storage, external APIs)
- Review code, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior engineers
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes
- Collaborate with frontend and mobile teams to deliver features end-to-end
- Participate in technical planning, estimation, and system architecture decisions
- Write technical documentation and maintain clean codebase structure
- Support CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and monitoring processes
Qualification
- 4+ years experience in backend development
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages (Node.js, PHP, Java, or similar)
- Experience with modern frameworks (NestJS, Laravel, Express, Spring, etc.)
- Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and query optimization
- Experience designing REST APIs and microservice architecture
- Knowledge of authentication standards (JWT, OAuth, RBAC)
- Familiar with caching, queues, and background jobs (Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)
- Understanding of Docker and basic cloud infrastructure concepts
- Experience with Git workflows and code review practices
- Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
- Nice to Have
- Experience with event-driven architecture
- Experience with message brokers or streaming systems
- Knowledge of API Gateway and load balancing
- Familiarity with monitoring tools and logging systems
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience
